Taken from the Leica Forum the lenses and R9 bodies have ceased production and there will no be future production. There however is talks of producing a digital camera that will replace the R9. Question is now how expensive is that camera going to be, and will there be any future in it?

I own and use a Leica R8 and also own 7 lenses. I have hung onto the lenses and camera system hoping that a digital future would happen that would be viable. Now we can see what they deliver. If the price is too high verses the output I might have to go Nikon. Maybe find an adapter to use the Leica glass on the Nikon body as I will probably never get what I have paid for in glass back.

And the digital Modul-R they ceased production on that 3 years ago and finding those for sale is hard to find and when they are up for sale, at ridiculous prices.

My wish list for Leica

1. Autofocus should be an option.
2. A reasonable megapixel should be utilized.
3. Full frame should be used.
4. Good dynamic range.
5. Great exposure latitude. ( May have repeated myself)
6. Be an extension of my eye and brain.
7. My current R lenses should have the option of being used.

New digital System?

Wouldn't that be this one?

The only bad news is that the only information I can find on the price is a guesstimate of $20,000 for a body/lens combination.

I am hoping they will do something for the 35 mm market film users that have all sorts of glass. I am hoping for a new camera body that will utilize the r glass that I own.

The S system is a whole new camera system entirely. New glass, new sensor all from the ground up. 20 grand for a digital medium format camera really is not bad if you are able to shoot with it for 5 years. Compared to full time shooters I have seen buying new cameras yearly for 10 years. Sheesh I would love to have that kind of budget.
