The "current financial crisis" has been affecting my business since Sept. 11, 2001. LOL
Does it affect my decision to upgrade or add equipment? Not at all. I will always want the the latest and greatest equipment, but ... I have always had the discipline to let the needs of my business dictate my purchases.
When I made the decision to diversify and start shooting weddings in 2007, my clients expected me to bring backup equipment to their wedding. Since my primary camera was a 5 year old D100 (with no backup camera), I added a D300 --- because my business required it (my business didn't require the higher quality of a D3).
Of course, one of the great benefits to living in the Dallas area is there are a handful of good equipment rental facilities, so when I want to use a wide angle lens, or strip lights ... or even rent a studio full of equipment (neither of which I own) I can always rent.
