The shoot was to promote a vintage/retro clothing store and the owner provided props, clothes, and her home for us to shoot. I was all set to shoot victorian fashon when the model comes out of the house wearing Spandex. Since there wasn't a Delorian nearby we shot with what we had. [grin]
(The client LOVED it and even scheduled another shoot)

Some girls have the legs for spandex

yes you can tell where my speedlights are located.....

Well I can feel the models pain in the first shot! Im just gonna put this out there and hopfully not make any enemys. Im very new to the tittle " Pro Photog" in fact still trying to get the doors open to the new studio. I have been a hobbiest for several years and just recently made this my main source of income. About six months ago I was approached to do a shoot for a local retailer. When the owner approached with her ideas I was excited. For one her ideas sounded pretty good, and for two I was excited someone actually liked my work enough to hunt me down and wanna pay me! When the day came I showed up with my equipment and assistant and was ready to go to work. To my suprise what I was about to shoot was much like the situation here! Nothing matched or even came close to it. Thhe models were family members of her's and in my "profesional" opinion even photoshop has its limits! (hope you get that) The clothing and props were just horrible. After speaking as professionaly as I could I desided it was in my best interest to pack my gear and head back home. Heres my point! The client is always right and should get what they want. However what they want doesnt have to have my name on it! My reputation is more important then the 1500 bucks I was gonna be paid for that shoot. I think sometimes we need to look at the fact that we may not be the right person for the job!

I guess if the client is happy, that's all that really matters!

Geeezzz guys, lighten up. We shot like 15 costume changes for over four hours and had a blast. I thought the tractor and spandex was cool retro in a red-neck sort of way. The owner loved it, Shannon had a blast (we posed her with a goat before she went back to change)

I didn't mean for this to come across as a complaint/rant thread, here is another shot of Shannon from a little later that day, to make up for mis-leading you.

and one of Jessica "working" a vintage dress.

I have always said that one unfortunate situation about forums is a person's demeanor is difficult to determine with only typed words to go by.

There were two replies and I didn't see a rant going in either. In my opinion one was trying to express his thoughts about how sometimes a photographer and client are not in the same thinking mode (as was his case), and the other seemed to be saying that as long as the client was happy nothing else matters.

Bob, I am not sure how you think you mislead anyone (as you stated); I wasn't mislead by any of your comments, but now I keep thinking about the shot of the model and the goat.

Yeah its hard to show emotion when typing, that's why I use [grin] a lot.

[shrug]

It could have turned into a rant thread is what I was alluding too, that's all.

Get your mind out of the gutter young man, its not "that' kind of goat shot.

[grin]

I've several girls lined up to don daisy duke shorts and crop tops and do a photo shoot "with" the pot belly pigs, in their pen ..... Just hoping for a warm spell before winter kicks in for real.

funny enough, I've actually gotten an order from one of the clothing store's customers wanting to buy a photo of Shan on that tractor. Seems it brought back fond memories.. [shrug]

Hello all...

I agree! emotion is very hard to read in a forum. I kinda took it as you were not happy with your assignment. I hope I didnt offend you. If I did Im very sorry! The 2nd set you posted are outstanding! Very creative and well shot!

I think we need a emotion detector in forum font.... Wait maybe that could be my next big idea!!!!

Hope you all have a great weekend!

Jim

and

"Weren't" my mind in the gutter.. cause I wasn't thinking of anything bad. I just wasn't sure what kind of shot with a goat would work for vintage clothing.

Still no disrespect intended, I do not get the concept of the tractor with the spandex. With the Daisy Duke outfit, I can see it might work.
