Hey...

First post on here and had something happen recently that made me chuckle...was shooting a model on a black concert grand piano with multiple lights and only the hair light fired....well...needless to say, I figured it was not good...but after a bit of manipulation, I am putting it on here to see what comments it might get....and also to see if you as a photographer are able to admit your mistakes and maybe even make the best of them...LOL

Thanks,
Mo

Speaking of mistakes, did you just double post several photos in your album?

I'll admit to my mistakes...but only if I have to!

I have a whole project dedicated to such shots. All photographers get them whether they admit it or not. Here is a tutorial to a salvage of a shot. I've got several dozen of these salvage shots scattered around G1 --- so look for them (like Easter eggs).

And here one using what I call the "blur trick":

Your shot worked rather nicely even as salvage.

Cheers,

Making lemonade out of lemons is what it's all about, sometimes! Nice image as is, but if it were mine, I might try dodging the facial area just the tiniest of bits.

you shot the whole set without realizing only one light was firing?

Sounds like he may have only shot one or two that way and then realized the problem. Now that we can chimp, its hard to shoot many shots when lights don't fire. I can always tell visually just from when I shoot the shot if most of the lights fired. When I doubt that some fired, I test fire the flashes and ask the model which lights she sees. In the old days Polaroid. Now the LCD. So one should never have more than a couple of these "partial" shots in a row. But they can be fun --- as we've seen.
Cheers,
rfs

I thought I made a mistake once, but I was wrong...

One of my favorite images is the result of a mistake. I accidentally underexposed a shot by several stops. But while playing with the image on the computer, I discovered that in "correcting" the exposure, it picked up a golden glow that I couldn't seem to duplicate any other way. Go figure....
