Anybody else happen to watch any of the streaming video from the fine art and fetish workshop this weekend?
I gotta tell ya, it was about like watching paint dry...
For those of you who have no idea what I'm talking about, OMP did a streaming TV feed from a fine art and fetish workshop this weekend. If you had the URL, you could "tune in" and watch and listen to what was going on at the workshop. Unfortunately, the camera was fixed on a tripod about 20 feet from the sets, and most of what you saw was a bunch of photographers wandering around between the video camera and the shooter while he shot the model.
Now I am not a fetish fan, and I really wonder about the attraction of having models suspended from ropes, but different strokes for different folks I guess.
All in all, I think the video feed probabably did more harm than good. Having a half naked model "cuddling" with a photographer on a couch surely doesn't send a message I'd want representing me.
The unedited audio was somewhat obscene at times as photographers standing around made comments picked up by the mike. I presume they were "unaware" they were being picked up.
If there was any "instruction" by the mentors, it happened when I wasn't tuned in.
All in all, I'd suggest strictly limiting the video feed in future to preregistered and somehow "qualified" selected viewers. It's not something the general public should probably see... at least if photographers value their reputations.
P.S. I've attended enough workshops over the years to know that this workshop was pretty typical. I've not attended any "fine art and fetish" shoots, so it was interesting from the nudity, ropes, and shackles aspect, but not so much that I'm encouraged to sign up for the next one!
