Searching for "rolando" returns 0 hits. My point was that the search function doesn't appear to search much of the site.

Actually I think it only searches the articles. I'm looking at taking that off and adding a google search feature. I've made a few corrections to what you suggested already.

Oh, yes, I own the domain but I have others involved with this project. As far as expanding, I'm into just about every genre of photography with my photojournalism background. I actually shot an advertisement (commercial work) that comes out in Sept. this year, full-page advertisement, in Playboy, Maxim and Sports Illustrated for a major company that has been running a particular ad campaign for ten years now--the ad will run for their advertising media buy of mid-2008 to mid-2009. I hope to get the job again in 2009. Can't say too much yet, but I'll post it as soon as I get it.

On another note, enjoy this new image that will appear in my next book. Thanks, rg sends!

Sounds cool ... most of us have interests in other areas of photography. Will be great to have a place to share those too.

I like the flow of the new site a lot better then this one. I like the fact that I can type a reply at the bottom of every post and not have to click anywhere first. I also like the photo system a lot better then the one that is here. It looks a lot better.

The bio field in the profile is too small. One line memo fields imply you only want the person to type a few words. Why not make the bio field the size of this reply field.

I'll mention them as I notice them.

The registration process suffers from first-time-itus With no profile no data no history the program doesn't display sensible messages. This goes away after the person has entered some photos and posts and such but that first impression could do harm.

I do like the "feel". Haven't gotten into it very far but so far it has possibilities.

JUST BRAINSTORMING and kind of venting i guess

although one cannot catergorize every image i think that macro, sports, street/candid, and abstract would generate some interesting photos also perhaps a small definition for each category similar to the Digital Deviations category. although some categorys need no definition it may be added as to what is allowed in that specific forum ie: no nudity.

is there a possibility of a rating system? so the home page might be able to show the top 10 rated photos on the site or the weeks top rated would probally be better to keep things fresh.

A relaxed real world atmosphere is what is really needed. the freedom to say whats on ones mind pertaining to the topic one should never critique a critique... that creates tension and before you know it members are secretely after each other or worse yet publicly in the forums. this looks bad for everyone. perhaps a BS forum would be appropriate for this along with general conversations.

a favorite of mine is the post a pic when you critique "rule" i sincerely hope this is not in effect here. let me say why.. I believe i have taken a few good photos and i also know i have taken ALOT more bad photos which i have learned from. that shold not limit me to be able to point out to someone something i notice in an image that i myself may have also done and have not perfected the shot yet to be able to post my example. everyone is entitled to an opinion most of us are amatures and cannot share or are unable to share a "perfect" image..... MAYBE a critique from the pros forum where images must be rated at X points to be allowed into this forum and only members with true professional photography careers are permitted to respond and post examples if desired. in the past at G1, i have noticed if someone critiques without an image they have (not always) been shot down as having an invalid comment or they are pointed to the rules. truthfully this has limited me sharing my thoughts on other peoples work i am even hesitant to say "nice photo" .

im sure there will be more...

Eric

Just curious. I read some of the posting rules where it stated "No nudity allowed" beyond implied. That would exclude a number of tasteful photo's and a complete category of photos. I presume that would also exclude the mirror photo you posted in this thread. Having not had food or caffine yet this morning, I'll ask "Whats up with that?"

You are correct, no nudity beyond implied is allowed on that site, it's not a glamour or nude site, this site is ok with those genres as it tailors to glamour and glamour nudes. You can post nudes and glamour nudes here for critiques.

As far as my photo goes, it's implied because it doesn't show genitalia, breasts, pubic hair, etc., there is a difference between a nude and an implied nude. While a model generally is nude or partially nude, sans clothes or part of her clothes, in an implied nude photo, none of her sexually expressive parts of her body are revealed. Yes, an implied nude is a form of nude photography and on ShotCritic.com the line is drawn to keep the site nothing more than PG-13/17, similiar to the rules on Myspace, Maxim magazine, etc.

Our goal is to keep the site free, and in order to support the costs involved, we'll keep it advertiser friendly, besides, there are tons of nude sites and other sites, including this one, where you can get nudes critiqued. Of course, everything is subject to change.

Thanks, rg sends!
