Nice work, Marty. Sorry, I don't have any advice on repairing lenses since like your friend, I shoot with Canon. (Sorry, couldn't resist!)

Bob
I can't wait to see what you do with the Valentines Day Flowers, although the thorns could be a little tough.. Keep up the creative work.

Since you asked ....

Setup: AB400 with 16" beauty dish camera left; AB800 in 36x48 softbox with 40-degree grid camera right; AB400 above model as hairlight; two Norman stobes pointing at white seamless.

Setup: AB400 with 30" softbox to camera right; AB400 with 40-degree grid and Bastard Amber gel to camera left pointing at Brooke's face; Nikon SB800 speedlight on a lightstand behind the couch snooted with gaff tape and pointed at her hair.

Setup: AB400 with 40-degree grid and Bastard Amber gel to camera left pointing at models face; AB400 with 30" softbox to camera right and behind and above Brooke (shining on her buttocks); 48" gold reflector just below camera; and ... I put my Nikon SB800 speedlight in the fireplace with an orange and red gel and some aluminum foil to simulate a roaring fire (smeared it in Photoshop).

Having a model like Brooke makes even the simplest setup look great ... and, using the new 20-70 lens (versus my trusty 70-200 lens) allows me to now stand in the same room as the model ... a HUGE benefit when shooting with Brooke.

Marty, Thank you so much for sharing your lighting set up for these shots. They are great. It is nice when someone like you with your expertise, shares this information, for us aspiring photographers who would like to someday replicate your results. I have the equipment, just need to refine it. I am sure you will like using the close glass compared to the 70-200. I have used the 70-200 and its hard to get in the same room. Thanks again.

Thanks for your lighting setup details.
I like your use of these lights.
Just curious...how hid you triger your SB800s with your ABs?

I'm a big fan of spending money where it counts ... and improvising or going cheap where it doesn't. I trigger all my strobes (Alien Bees and Normans) with those cheap Hong Kong wireless remotes you can find for about $5 (plus $20 S&H) on eBay. Just make sure you get the "in line" receivers and not the battery operated receivers (less cost and less hassle in the long run).

UPDATE: My local camera repair guy told me to call the Nikon parts office in Chicago and order a couple grip rings. He said they just slide on like rubber bands. No price on the grips yet.
