Only two more days to go! I am also looking forward to seeing images from the shoot.

Flake? I never post about an upcoming shoot, and most of them flake anyway. LOL Perhaps nothing is absolute?

I have never seen so many replies about a shoot that hasn't happened yet!

Dude, it's easier to get them to pose if you have your own studio, or know someone who does. Hit me up, we'll work out a deal and a date.

And you have to give off the vibe that if they don't pose nude, there is another model on call waiting who will. Control the shoot from first contact to last frame, it minimizes the flake factor.

Yeah.. such a vicarious bunch, huh?

I have a studio and usually the models I photograph say something like... "Gee, this is the first time I ever shot with a photographer who had a "real" studio.

I have more regular customers (females), who pay me to photograph them in lingerie, or semi nude than "models". Some of them even tell me that if I won't photograph them that way, they have another photographer lined up that will, so what is a guy to do? I am compelled to photograph them.

I can hardly wait.. tomorrow is the BIG day for isaia.

Well, I came as close to jinxing myself as humanly possible. My main lense broke almost at the end, and she almost cancelled, but thankfully, I was already in the area, and asked her if she was up too at least doing a few shots, which she was, and ended up taking 456 images. Of course, some are for the scrapheap, and I leared a most valuble lesson, and that simply is to not talk about the shoot prior to it, just put up the pics afterwards. Well, I haven't gone through any of them yet, and need to get to work!! Thanks to all of you, for you advice regardless of what it was, as always, the vets here came through for me, and I hope that once the images are up, I do you proud.

Isaiah

A few? And that was 456! Oh My! As I have asked before, how do you guys shoot so many images at one time? I am going to shoot some models this weekend and have been told that some of the guys will shoot from 800 and up. And was encouraged to bring lots of cards. I doubt if I will shoot 300 total. Yipes! Did I just jinx myself on this?

I hope to see some images of your "few shots" shoot, soon.

I have even written down what I wanted and then never went back to check my shoot notes, so my advice make a plan and stick to it, allowing for some ad-lib of course. Have fun.
I usually draw diagrams and make lists and/or have books with samples to show the model. But I try to also tell the model before hand what my goals are and thus she can remind me of the various shots that I need to make. I almost always know in advance what I want to accomplish with the shoot and I usually get the shots I need.

It's called spray and pray...

If I can't get the shot in my head within 25 clicks, then I move on to the next idea. If I'm really clicking with a model and we're getting good images, I might shoot 40 or 50 images. Let's face it, how many shots from one look are you going to actually edit and add to your book? One. Maybe two. Sure the 26th shot might be the 'one', but I'd rather make myself wait to see 'the one' before I press the shutter.

I guess it has more to do with planning the shoot and shooting the plan than anything else. Of course YMMV.

Bah...he said it was his first nude shoot. Give him a break on the shutter clicks! Besides, with shutter life of 100k on many of today's cameras, he might as well get his money's worth!

I think the modern method of photography (since digital) is to use the resulting images as the viewfinder of the camera. Rather than getting the image right in the viewfinder, the "photographer" shoots hundreds of shots of each sequence and then find the best one later. This is very wasteful of time since one now has to load the photos off to a computer and then look at each one at a sufficient size to determine its quality. Prior to digital one did not have that luxury and so composed the shot in the viewfinder and directed the model until the photographer saw in the viewfinder the required image and then shot it.

When I used to shoot model portfolios during the 70's I would shoot one roll of film of each outfit change (10 shots on 120 film and a RB 67). I would shoot several Polaroids at the start of each set to make sure lighting was right and ratios were right. I never failed to have at least 5 or 6 usable images of each set.

Even now days with digital I still limit it to 20 or so shots of each outfit or lighting change.

Yepppp.... the few models I have worked with that have worked with other photographers are amazed that I do not shoot hundreds of images. I try to make every shot count, but do not mind shooting 5 or on rare occasions 10 of a set up.

By the way, I asked some of the models how many images they receive from a shoot of 500 or more and they say 5 maybe. Wow!

The phrase I once heard was "Over shooters Anonymous".

Back to the beginning. ....I am still anxious to see the results from the OPs session.
