Do you every play around with vignettes for your photos? Of course, some lens will give you this effect without doing anything, but usually it is a matter of choice. The vignette was especially popular at one time for portraits. I wonder how popular it is today. Anyway, to get this experiment started, here is a before and after of one version of a vignette applied to a photo of Amy. Please feel free to comment and to post your own vignette examples.

Sometimes the JPG compression used on G1 will make a photo less crisp, so here is a link to the full size photo as uploaded:

I have an action that makes a vignette, a dark one , that i use on some studio shots. I haven't found it very good for outdoor work although that may be because I'm not cropping close enough.

I like the white one around Amy.

they are more often over done

the phrase less is more is very apt for vignettes

Adobe LightRoom has a tool under lens correction that is great for vignettes
try to not mix keys
iow a dark image with a white vignette is less apealing as a general rule that a dark or low key image with a dark vignette

the example of the first image is a breaking the rule that in my opinion did not work

the post with the lady in red is an excellent example of why staying with keys is a much better choice

by the way I am new here so I hope my feedback is O.K. with those established on this forum

Cheers !
