Well, as we all know what time of year it is, Christmas is coming up soon, and I've noticed something that has gotten worse and worse and worse as time goes on. It seems that going over to one family member's house for Christmas day or eve, enjoying the time with our family is no longer in exsistance for many of us, and that doesn't sit right with me. We seem to be caught up in shopping and buying things for others and going to several people's house for the holiday, and our time is so divided between houses that we don't get to spend much quality time with them. I know I'm alone on the following, but this is the third straight year that I'm boycotting ALL retailers for Christmas. I don't expect or want anything from a store for Christmas. If you care, call me and have a genuine conversation with me, or if you dare, spend time with me. I think for the most part, that we have lost all idea of what the holiday is all about. Take a long hard look at what the holiday means to you. Are you more concerned about finding the right gift for somebody or are you looking forward to spending quality time with those you love? Just my 2 cents.

Spending quality time with your family is something that we should be doing all the time...Not just over the holidays. I get great pleasure from buying gifts for the ones I love. To see there faces when they open the gift and see that it is something I picked out just for them is priceless. I wont give gift cards, although I love to recieve them because I think they are just to impersonal.

I spend time with my friends and family all year and on the holidays I am ok with dividing my time between them. They know I love them because I show them everyday. If you do that you can just enjoy the spirit of giving.

Well, it looks like you have the right idea, don't just spend time with your family between late November and late December, but all year long. Looks like you and I are in the minorty though, but this time, at least I know I'm in good company.

For my wife and I, we split and alternate the holidays (Easter, Thanksgiving and Christmas). So, this Christmas is with her family this year, easter will be at mine, etc.) We have hosted both families for the holidays before, which was a lot of fun. She is from a family of nine and I'm from a brood of seven. When you add children (and their spouses and children) we can push up over thirty pretty quickly. It is a great time.

The alternating works well, esp. when various siblings are on the same schedule.

Hey Mark, I'm glad that your family does that, I'm glad that all is not lost on this, keep up the good work.
