Hi Gang,

Well, it's always been my dream to have a studio and now I have one. I wanted to share the photos of it taken during the time I was moving in my equipment. I am scared to death about this move because moving into the world of portraiture is new for me and currently I don't have any paying customers (working on that whole marketing thing...I suck at it) but I figured that if I kept waiting on pursuing my dreams, I'd NEVER get there so I went out on a very weak limb and got this place.

So, I humble myself before you who have been where I'm at (venturing into unknown territory with a new studio) and ask for your words of wisdom. I want so badly to succeed at this but I'm not really a business person, per se.

In any event, here are some photos of the place. As always, comments are welcome.

Warm regards and happy Turkey Day!

Mike

Nice place! Move the background from the doors, its troube if you dont. the light on your background will cause you much postproduction hard ache. Someone already mentioned the fabulous french doors you have so no need to double tap the comment.
Nice move, good luck. If you can look into a rail system.

I saw that problem when I set up the background stand but thought I could easily take care of it by using some heavy drapes or dark material to cover them when shooting during daylight hours. I can rotate 90 degrees and shoot against the wall but then it puts me smack dab in the middle of the place and I'm not sure how that will work out with trying to get a few chairs in there for clients and such. I'll probably give it a try and see how it works out.

Thanks!

Happy Turkey Day!

Mike

Very nice place, I'm envious. I have to use my livingroom/diningroom and hallway.

I would keep the backdrop where it is and use the drapes as your wrote. That gives you the longest area to shoot from.

Depending on where the sun is, you can shoot in the corners and get some good natural light , and use a reflector for fill.

Best of luck to you.
