Hi guys and gals,

Well I have been lurking here for a couple of months reading and trying to soak up the tips and information from the experienced photographers here. Its been over 15 years since I have done any photography.
After months of saving up I went out and got a Canon 40D today. I went to the closest camera store and they did not have a 40D so off to a big electronic chain store to buy one. Something cool happened after I bought the camera. The guy in front of me at the checkout waited and gave me a competitors ad that had the camera for a $100 off. So I went to the service desk 30 seconds after buying the camera and got a $100 back.
Anyway I just wanted to say hi and that I enjoy reading about all the experience you people have and to keep up the good work. I have seen some awesome photos here.
Well i am off to read the frackin manual. I hope everone has a good day.

KC

Welcome, KC.
I was going to say something witty about getting $100 back on what will no doubt be the first of many purchases, the majority of which WON'T return funds to your wallet, but having done photography before, you already know that. So I'll just repeat - welcome.

Welcome! I just bought a 40D myself. I was at BestBuy on Oct 31 for something else and I stopped to look at the 40D on the way by. Believe it or not, they offered me $150 off if I'd buy it then so they could make their monthly budget for the department.

Lesson learned maybe...go to BestBuy on the last day of the month?

Grats on your purchase -- so far, the 40D has impressed me. Would love to hear experiences from other users.

I just got thru reading teh manual on the 40D. Jeez. This thing is going to have a learning curve for sure. The move to digital is going to be a a slow one. Considering I have not done any photography since I had my Minolta X-700. Peace.
