Just got an email from G1 plugging PhotoWorkshops.com

Who has joined?
Was it worth the money?
If you Like it why?
If you don't, why?

I'm sure there are others like me that only have XX to spend on photography and try to get the most bang for our buck. Its "only" $40 but its $40 I'll have to take out of my "workshop" budjet.

Good news is, there's no need to rush to join. The link in the email from G1 has the same pricing as the normal membership the site offers -- there's no discount.

I looked over the site awhile back and it seemed the benefits were mostly things I didn't need such as image hosting and another email address. Beyond that, the benefits of the community and "assignments" were in my opinion, soft at best. You can get free "assignments" at dpchallenge.com and there are some amazing photographers there. The current non-member challenges are "Popcorn" and "Single Light Source" ... restricted to basic editing ... and "Free Study" where advanced edits are allowed.

I'm going to check back in with PhotoWorkshop.com from time to time and see if it looks better as they add content. It does have a lot of brands behind it.

If you end up signing up, please let us know your experience.
