As many know - I'm a huge lover of film cameras. Lately, here in South Beach, labs have been closing. What few labs remain are doing bare minimum and quality control has gone to crap.

Recently, a friend I met on these boards, Jack Cutler - suggested I give his lab up north a chance. I wish I could post the full size scan... the detail is out of this world. I was editing this image at over 800% at times.

The lab is called DCC photo in PA. Those who know me must know how upset I was at what was happening to the labs and how I dreaded learning digital. For now - I'm just thrilled to have a place to do my work... for LESS than I was paying down here for crappy scans.

So here's a public thanks to Jack. Stay open - no matter what.

Christian, the only thing I can say about your work is there just isn't enough of it viewable by those of us who are trying to learn from you... [grin]

Jack's a great guy - he used to have some very informative "how to" information posted on his site, although I haven't been there in years. He also was the only place I'd get 35mm negatives made - he'd process C40, no prints, and I'd scan myself. At the time, it was the lowest cost way to get a decent quality image I could find.
Glad to learn he's appreciated and still at it.

I know exactly how you feel.

I've tried various digitals, but keep going back to film. I totally agree about crappy scans. I only have one lab locally that does a halfway decent job and it still costs a fortune.

Love the image.
