Well, OK ... I can't really speak for the whole of Europe, but I think I can speak for the 30-40 attendees of Rolando's lecture in Hamburg !

Although I've been around here for quite some time - mostly just learning by reading -, I had never met Rolando in real life. After I read an add, placed by the sponsors of his tour through Europe (calumet and california sunbounce) in the german magazine "photographie", I decided to take a day off and drive the 250 miles to Hamburg.

After having listenend to Rolando for about 4 1/2 hours I must say I'm really glad I did visit his lecture (not workshop like the add said). Rarely (like never) did I meet someone who is more fascinated and wo lives photography more than he does. Maybe it's just me , but just love listening to people who love and live what they are doing - not only photographers. And believe me - I visited 4-5 other "real" workshops and none of the pro's were so passionate about what they do for a living.

What impressed me most was not the technical explanations about how he created certain photographs, but more the stories behind them. Like how he meets his models, communicates with them, the marketing, pricing, and so on.

If he ever does a workshop here in Germany , man, I'll be the first to book.

Another thing I really enjoyed: Rolando greeted me like an old friend. It was just a great feeling to meet someone you have "know" since garageglamour-times and be welcomed like that.

The bottom line: if you have the chance to hear him do a lecture, just do it. You won't be disappointed.

CU
Peter

PS: He's still in Europe - just look at his schedule
