After reading all the great advice, I went back to the images and did sharpen the eyes, lips and added more contrast.

Ummm... maybe its the white balance or you are putting some type of filter on the light source. Nice looking subject, but the photograph lacks the color punch for me.

i assume you're using the "unsharp" tool for sharpening. if you're not sure how to do this, there's plenty of free tutorials I'm sure you can find with a simple Google search.

When you sharpen, you obviously don't want to sharpen everything. Here's a list of things I usually and selectively sharpen in the "unsharp" layer mask I've created: Eyes, mouth, hair, nostrils, jaw-line, outer edge of body (especially if I've "edged" the model with backlights), fingernails, clothing, jewelry, nipples and outline of breasts (if nude), and anything I think should be sharpened.
