During a shoot the other day I had this idea. What do you think?

Well, it doesn't work very well. Its a good idea, and one that has been used quite often over the years (one notable use is by Normal Rockwell). Your shot would work better if the model outside the mirror was in the same pose as the model in the mirror. Also the huge thing above the mirror is quite distracting and there is too much business showing in the mirror. For a shot like this to work you want to reduce it to just the essentials (model, mirror and the pose).

Cheers,
rfs

I like the concept, but the image is missing something. RFS has some awesome ideas. i think you should try different camera angles. but that is just my opinion.

Thanks guys!
It was also suggested that we should see some of the face of the model outside the mirror. Same pose is what I think would do much better. (that thing above the mirror is a window, I can remove it.)

A couple of variations on your theme:

1). Use the dancer (in a decluttered mirror image) but have an elderly woman in front of the mirror (recapturing her youth)

2) try a 5 - 10 year old girl in front of the mirror, she could be in a similar costume
