Someone once told me... Don't worry about the Ad Directors ect who tells you your work is S*it... Worry about the one who says nothing... The fact that they took the time to call your portfolio/Image S*it means that there was something worth taking the time to tell you... And if you ask nice they might tell you why... But of all they say is "I'll call you" you may never know that they are thinking...

At school I was told to take this out of my portfolio because it was a poor image...But a Working NYC Pro Editorial photographer told me to keep it because it worked...Go figure...

I'd take it out... I try not to get too attached to any one shot, I see my work as a moving train and not stationary, so by constantly upgrading, it keeps things fresh... mho

Depends on the mindset of the person judging.

As a portrait, Its bad
As a glamour shot, its better.
As a statement, or art photo I think it rocks!

and yes, having someone call your work crap means your work is good enough to get their attention. (except perhaps on a message board) [grin]

depends on the rest of the body of work in the portfolio and how it looks compared to them. the portfolio is a complete statement of your style and outlook, and each image has to contribute on its own to the entirety of the portfolio.

the weakest image is....the weakest image. if it brings the book down, get it out. If it is part of the story of the portfolio and it says the same message as the others, leave it in.

FYI, if you go to my website, there are no nudes, no idea that I shoot glamour, at all. I don't want AD's to know that, but if they find it out I don't care, but I don't show it. My book/website has a theme.

You decide if this image goes with that theme or takes away.

Jayson,

This image isn't as good as other images you haven't shot yet. And if, by some strange chance, this is better than other images you haven't shot yet, might I suggest selling the cameras and buying a flute... or perhaps a red rubber ball?

Now, look at what little there is to like about this old image - and do it again knowing what you know now.
