Take a look at it... let me know what you think.

ChristianBehr.Com

The intro is busy, but interesting. I can imagine someone getting really high and watching it for a while. It's kinda like a "007 beginning credits" flash. Some will love it - some will hate it. What's your opinion?

I'm not a big fan of Flash openings that are long and have loud music. If someone is accessing the site in an office environment, then it can be rather disruptive. I always prefer the sound off by default rather than on.

I note that a number of the menu options don't seem to work. The Beauty and Fashion options, bring up one photo and then say loading when you hover or click on the photo. After several minutes I gave up since it just kept saying loading. The "Editors and Clients" option goes to a blank page.

Your metadescription and metakeywords tag are good, but your Title tag which carriers much higher weight with search engines is focused only on your name and the word photography and is the same for all pages that I could reach. Its better to seed each title with key words or phrases that best represent the kind of words that people would type into a search engine if they were trying to find a photographer like yourself. For example, if you want to attract fashion models for portfolios, then you might have "fashion model portfolios by Christian BEHR Photography". This would make the page score much higher for the first three words. You can also seed the text on text based pages with the key phrases you are targeting.

Cheers,
rfs

I think it's kinda spiffy. Folks can always skip to the menu if they don't like the opening. You may condense it though, as people won't pay that much attention after the first or second viewing (imho). Do you have permission to use the opening tune? If it's copyrighted and you don't, you could get into trouble.

Likewise, I'm not a big fan of the flash intro, but from there on it RAWKS!!! That flash opening kills you when it comes to search engines as well. Love the song and how it fits so well with the photos.
We as photogs tend to look at things differently than the clients we are trying to attract. How is your website playing with the model / agent crowd??
Your photography, as always, is top drawer!

Best,

Mitch

I've heard that some browsers aren't picking up the arrows under the images. And I've heard that some stay " loading." I'll get to work on that on Monday.

Thanks to everyone for taking the time. I'm still trying to decide if I want to keep that intro.

RFS... interesting idea. Thanks for the idea.

I'll also have the music turned down.

I have to agree flash openings usually bother me but you consistently choose music I love so I get sucked in. I mean from Frou Frou to Massive Attack, just not fair.

Only thing I see that is a little bit annoying to me is that on your navigation between images, when you hit the last image there is no visual feedback. I would perfer the next arrow dissappear on that last image to give me a visual clue that I am at the last image so I don't have to click it again and have in not change to realize that.

Groovy stuff, Daddy-O! Makes me realize I need to get out of studios and interior locations and shoot more stuff exterior.

On my browser (Firefox) the arrows don't appear under the first pic in each category unless you scroll down within that window. Scrolling isn't necessary for subsequent images.

I also suggest defaulting the music [Off] as some people are viewing in environments where that would be preferable. Great musical choice, however.

One other fast note. I see that you are using frames for this site. Frames will normally make a site more or less search engine invisible for some of the search engines. That was also why I could not see the arrows for browsing the photos. Also, when the SEs to pick up links to the site it will often be to pages within frames, so people will then enter your site without the footers being there or the headers, etc. Here is an example (suppose the search engine had this link in their index):

http://www.christianbehr.com/Sound.htm

When a visitor clicks on it, he had no where to go. So if you must use frames, you must be sure that every file that is displayed in a frame set has a navigation element to the home page or you'll need javascript that will pull them backinto the frame (but that won't always work).

Cheers,
rfs
