I had a very interesting weekend. I got to shoot 2 surgeries at a local event for un-insured people who needed surgery.

Thought I'd share.

Nice work. The set of four images seem to group into (1 and 3) and (2 and 4) in terms of color balance. Were these the two different theaters?

Actually, 1,2, and 4 were all the same surgery. 3 was the other surgery.

They started with normal lighting, then decided to turn on green lights. It's better for their vision with the laproscopic camera they were using they said. So, 2 and 4 were after the green lights were turned on.

I made that assumption because of the white balance - the overall green of the background in 2 and 4, and the more natural tones and tannish background of 1 and 3. Do you know what kind of lighting was used, and how did you handle the white balance?

They have a complete second set of lights in the room that looked to be flourescent, but green bulbs. The lenses seemed to be clear on the fixtures.

As this was a surprise shoot with no time to ask what I was up against (they sprung it on me the day of the shoot that I was to photograph a surgery, and I didn't know about the lights until I got in the room) I shot in RAW and set the balance to auto. Figuring that would help me and I could always adjust the raw files later.

In other words, I winged it pretty much.
