This first image here is one I just found time to retouch. The light hit the knife tip a bit better. I did select and lighten it but there was little latitude there.

While it is true that this appears static that is in accord with the hard style of martial arts. Kung Fu is Chinese and a more circular and "soft" style.

imo, the images would be much improved if something were used, lighting-wise,to highlight the blade.

I was afraid of getting a blown out highlight on the blade. I even thought of getting a spray to dull it.

I was using a reflector for fill. If I had a third light and used that with a softbox and down a stop then the blade might have shown brighter. But, then it would not have been such low key lighting.

An accent light on the knife hand would have been difficult to make seem natural or unobtrusive. Maybe the way is to lighten the blade in photoshop.

One easy way is to shoot the knife by itself with optimum lighting (on the same background. It is then fairly easy to knock it out and overlay it into the current photo with the model. I often find this easier than trying to "micro" light a small part of a scene.

i don't think that female ninja is a good title, maybe killer secretary. I think the posing is to static. next time maybe have the model in more dynamic poses. My view point is that a "ninja" is never standing straight, they are almost always bent at every angle, and always bent in organic/fluid ways. This is just my 2 cents. Keep up the good work.

Vee is doing real Japanese and Korean knife fighting moves. In the second shot she is slashing a throat for example.

Perhaps something suggesting stealth, concealment or acrobatics would have worked for the title better.

So I change the name to 'Vee with Tanto'.

The knife is in a tanto style, with no handguard, only a bit of widening at the front of the hilt. The idea is that it is easily concealed and can be drawn without catching on clothes. You have to hold it properly to keep your hand from sliding forward. It is a ninja weapon modernized a bit for special forces.
