After all those years on a PC, I decided the timing was right to go ahead and buy a Mac Pro, with the dual (dual core) 3.0ghz chips, a small hard drive to start (have and external 500GB Lacie) and 5Gb of RAM.. I went with the standard video board (Nvidia 7300) and I am using a Dell 24" monitor.

I will upgrade to CS3 soon (using CS2) and have few other programs on it.

The build quality on this unit is awesome and adding RAM and hard Drives looks very easy to do, and quiet? you cannot even hear the fan, it is nearly dead silent when running.

A friend set me up with Photo Mechanic, looks pretty easy to use (I was using Breeze Brouser on my PC).

Anyone else using a MAC?

I may need to pick some brains, any experts here???

Welcome to the light

I have a 2.66GHz Mac Pro with 4GB of RAM, 2TB of disk, the X1900XT video card, and a 23" Apple Display.

CS3 totally rocks and is a must upgrade. If you have CS2 on the Windows platform, you can do a cross upgrade to CS3 by calling Adobe customer service.

I've been using Macs for about 2.5 years now after using PCs since before the IBM PC came out (the IBM 5110 & 5120 to be exact).

I also use PhotoMechanic. Great program although I may give the new CS3 Bridge a spin.

I'll be happy to try to answer questions if you want.

Have fun!

Hey Steve,
as a PC (piece of crap) user, I do have plans on going to Mac very soon. I used them at work and you have found out, they are far superior. And to think, I just got a duo core @ 1.8ghz, and still want the quad core Mac @ 3ghz. Hey, what can I say, I know a superior product when I see one. As far as recomendations, I highly recommend purchasing a full version of Photoshop CS3, it is dual platform, both PC and Mac and built for a multi core processor setup. You will see a performance increase because of this, so, in my humble opinion, it is worth the big bucks for a new full version.

Isaiah

When you upgrade to CS3, make sure to call & deal directly with Adobe. They were VERY nice to me when I switched platforms. You won't be sorry.
