I finally made the jump
Well, it's official, I have gone digital. I bought the Nikon D2Xs. Yes, Canon makes a great product, but since I already have thousands of dollars invested in Nikon lenses and flash units, why spend more to switch over, when I'm happy with the quality that Nikon puts out, and their products have never failed me. Anyways, if anybody has any pointers on the camera, let me know, and thanks in advanced.

You'll probably want to learn how to shoot and process raw files. My early digital stuff was shot in jpeg and I wish I had started shooting raw earlier.
Nikon has software that will process the files and Photoshop has ACR which will do them, too. There are many other raw converters. |
Re: I finally made the jump
Yeah, already shooting in RAW and haven't installed the software that came with the camera, but I'll be doing that today.

Re: I finally made the jump
That tends to be the way...it all comes down to getting the body that works with the lenses we already have. I've always heard that Nikon makes great lenses while Canon makes great bodies. But when it comes down to it I've seen gorgeous work done with pinholes and Kodak Brownie cameras. It's not so much what you have but what you can do with it. Have fun!

Don't worry Sam, I plan on taking my F4 and D2xs to Yosemite on Sunday, I'll most likely post some of them on my myspace profile afterwards.

Re: I finally made the jump
You know, it almost feel sac-religous to bring a digital camera into Yosemite.

Re: I finally made the jump
I know, right? Don't they only allow view cameras in there? :)

Re: I finally made the jump
You know, I'd love to take a field camera there, but there's no place that even sells the film anymore, much less process it.
