I have some large product shots coming up (Vehicles). The vehicles will range from small compact cars to large Super Duty F350-550. I was curious on what backdrops i should use. Almost all the vehicles will have to be COB'd so i was leaning towards white seamless paper or I have located some large vinyl 16' x 24'. While the vinyl is more expensive i will be able to re-use where as the paper probably will be a one time use after driving the vehicles on the paper. Also any tips on lighting the vehicles would help also. I currenlty have 3 alien bee 800's all with large Octa-box also have a medium photoflex half dome softbox. I have shot outside product photos from the company many times before but they are wanting better quality photos without all the distracting reflections of everthing that is around trees-building-cars ect.....I will have plenty of room to work with the ceilings are 30 feet. Any imput would be great!! Thanks!

I would suggest, since you asked, renting some large lightbanks. These are designed for shooting large objects, such as vehicles. You might actually find a studio with everything you need already setup for cars and such.

Not sure where you're at but check to see if there are any soundstages around, most metro areas have them available for rent. Shooting vehicles is very technically difficult and takes a lot of equipment, many soundstages have all the equip available to rent as needed and will often provide a PA or a grip to assist.

As far as a straight answer goes - several rolls of paper is your best bet. In addition to lights you're going to need a whole lot of reflectors and the paper can be used to bounce light out of as well

good luck and have fun

3 800WS flash units to light a car is not going to work. To do properly you need LOTS of lights and power. Major shoots will have lightbanks the length of the car with 6-10 heads each one using it's own powerpack. To shoot cars properly is a major undertaking!

Good luck
