Hello Everyone,

The lab that I normally use for prints will not print topless content. That is normally not a problem because I usually don't shoot anything more revealing than swimwear or lingerie, but I had a client in for a shoot decide to take her top off in several images and she is wanting prints of a few of them.

I was wondering if anyone could direct me to a lab that does prints on photographic paper and doesn't have a problem with topless content.

I have an Epson R2400 and I did try printing a few images myself, but I just did not like the layering effect that is particularly evident on the high key images.

Thank you for your help,

Daryl

i would do my best to make the printing at home work for ya. going out side for things like that can become a real problem. unless you find a pro print shop in your town, which could then become more expensive then either getting your printer at home to work right or buying a new printer.

Most big names labs like Bay Photo and MeKenna will deal with this fine. Mail order is OK now, since you never send originals.

You will still have the potential of a lab guy making a few private copies and if she is a celebrity contacting local magazines, if the temptation is strong enough.

Here in LA we have Kinkos and other more Professional shops that allow you to use their printers so you have more control over the privacy of the images.

If you get a lot of requests and shoot an average of one session a week, it is worth it to you to get an Epson 3800 for $1200.00 and do your printing in house.

Daryl,
I use Millers Professional IMaging and they will do Glamour nudes and such. They will not do anything that resembles pornography (penetration, close up of genitals etc). I would think that even their consumer side (Mpix) would follow similar guidelines if you aren't a Millers' customer.

I have been using Mpix for about two years for all my printing. Fast, good work and reasonably priced. I usually get prints back within three days.

I can't really offer a suggestion as to where to have your topless images printed. But ... if you are having a problem printing high key with an Epson R2400, the probnlem is not with the printer. I'm not sue what you mean by the "layering effect", but I print 11x14 and 13x19 images on my 2400 on a regular basis and the results are excellent. Perhaps the problem involves the paper you are using or the printer settings, but the 2400 can and does match traditional darkroom quality, whether high or low key.

My suggestion would be to download the most recent software (free) from the Epson site and if the problem continues, try a high quality matte paper rather than glossy paper.

This one, for example, has been printed at leat 15 times on my 2400, with excellent results. The prints have been sold to serious art collectors and for commercial display.

Costco prints nudes. Long as no minors or penetration is present they'll print it.
