I've been thinking about getting a wide white vinyl background to use to shoot bikes on. But, these things cost a good chunk. I've read where someguy use white vinyl bathroom wall boards for a floor surface and used something else for the vertical part of the background. I'm sure he didn't shoot bikes or other wide shoots. He may have only used the wall board to reflect light up and did a 3/4 shot.

Anyone ever used a sheet good like this? I'm not so concerned with how the vertical part of the backdrop meets the floor part. I'm more concerned with a seam that might show up by having two floor boards butted up side by side, to get enought width on the floor.

(yeah, I must be crazy)

Have you tried hitting flooring shops for remnants or roll drops?

I have been using the 4'x8' sheets of the white tile board for about five years and it works great! It's only about $20 per sheet from Lowes or Home Depot and after you put the motorcycle in place, you can easily wipe off the tire tracks with a towel or rag. I use a 9 foot roll of white seamless as a vertical background and if you light it correctly you'll never see where the seamless and the tile board meet (oh, and always run your tileboard perpendicular to the camera (left ro right) with the board closest to the camera on top. If you're shooting a longer bike, turn your white seamless paper 90 degrees and run it horizonally using a light stand and clamp about every four feet to hold it up.

Yah, that's 9' seamless with a 9' bike. Just showing that I know your pain LOL.

Marty's suggestion (Hi Marty!) is a good one also - tub surround material is shiny and fairly durable. You might look at rolls of formica as well, you might be able to order a roll of the size you need.

But this just struck me: If you've got room to do all that, you've got room to build a cyc with a nice coved corner at the floor-wall joint.

Well, I'll be outside under a white tarp canopy, so, I'll be on pavement and no walls to speak of. I figure laminate would be to brittle and crack if not on plywood. But, I might have to have plywood anyway.

You can paint the back of vinyl flooring white. It's a cheap way to get wide rolls that you can re-use easily -- just give it another coat of paint.
