My sensor has been damaged and I was wondering if anyone knows what the cost to replace it would run?

What sort of damage? Was it damaged while trying to clean it? If so, it may only be the covering over the sensor and that is less expensive than replacing the whole sensor unit. What does it now do or not do?
Cheers,
rfs

I somehow last weekend got a lot of dust on the sensor and could not blow it off with a bulb blower so I did something very stupid and took my compressed air can which I use to clean dust off my film, prints and other things and tried to hold back and blow off the dust. Dumb move. I now have two white spots on the sensor and I shot a piece of white paper and it was a wierd color so I asumed it was damaged. Going to call Canon in the mornning. I'm just sick about it. How dumb can you get?

Then you probably did not damage the sensor itself but just the high pass filter that is in front of the sensor. Its possible for that to be cleaned but you'd have to have the right tools. I suspect you'll have to send it to Canon, but it should not end up being a major expense. The problem with the air can, of course, is sometimes the expell propellent and that can stick to the high pass filter.
Cheers,
rfs

Don't feel bad. When I got my first car I thought I'd be smart and wash it with the high pressure steam washer my dad was using to clean the bricks on the house. Did you know you can peel the factory paint right off a 1966 Chevy in one pass?
