I was told yesterday that this shot will be on the cover of a new magazine.

There actually isn't that much processing here, most of this effect was from lighting, baby oil etc and makeup. I was going for a "King Kong" type of look here. I wish I could figure out to reproduce the "Lith processing" from film days, but I have tried and haven't had much luck. I love the lith effect.

Polite CC&C welcome as always, esp. on the underarm area; obviously that has to be visible in this shot, but any suggestions on making it less offensive would be appreciated (if indeed it is considered offensive by anyone lol):

Thanks

I like the second one, but on my monitor, the first has some really bad/dark and uneven skin tone. Maybe something happened during upload ?

And on my monitor the top of the hand on #1 and the feet are chopped off which makes the model look like an "amutee". The 2nd one is better but does have rule of thirds problems, in my opinion.
cheers,
rfs

Can you explain to me about the feet on the first shot? I'm curious what your artistic vision was when making that? Or was it a studio limitation? I just wonder if this shot might not benefit from a mid thigh crop.

Guys - please have a look at this... that is the way to discuss an image when you have a potential issue with it.

Grumble,

I looked and looked at the crop on #1, and every other crop I tried didn't seem to have the same impact. I felt like it was cropped high enough above the joint to be compositionally acceptable. The fingers are cropped just fine in #1. The feet I can see being debateable though. I didn't feel like cropping it higher had the same impact of her hanging from the baboo. The mid-thigh crop definitely didn't look near as effective as having the legs in it. And showing all of the feet just looked weird and fake.

The look we were going for in #1 was very dramatic, kind of a hopeless look. I've even though about trying to photoshop some tears on her face. Any thoughts on that?

I guess so far the underarms are ok...

Bobby - please don't simply chime in with sarcastic posts like that on threads, obviously that's completely against the rules and serves ABSOLUTELY no purpose and no good at all. I haven't done that to you, that's very uncool. I've reported your post to the forum owner.

DDCSTudios - please stop stalking me from thread to thread and taking completely unprovoked and sarcastic jabs at me - you too have been reported. I have NOT done that to you. You are most definitely not welcome on this thread... and you can take your followers from your little forum with you.

See I'm confused about being high enough above the joint when I can see her ankle on the right side. I could see a crop mid calf trying to pull that off. I really can't see how having feet would make it look fake. Especially if those feet were bound to the bamboo as they should be for a shot like this. In fact I think if I were shooting it her elbows and knees would be tied to the bamboo as well. As it is, the crop on the ankle makes me feel like it is unfinished, like it was cropped because something was wrong with the shot, I've thrown away so many shots because there was something just a touch wrong and though I could have saved them cropping them at an ankle or wrist when I did it I cringed at how they looked more than seeing the issue.

Congratulations on getting it published, I just believe that there are several ways to make this a better photo.
