Exhaustion is not the word.

This week of filming Bikini All-Stars and Best of the Best 3 was so intense that I need a few days to really wrap my mind around it all. It is amazing how people really show their true colors, both positive and negative when the TV camera lights are on and the situation is not ideal.

After 3 beautiful days of shooting Bikini All-Stars it was time for Best of the Best 3. As if on cue, the weather radically turned. The models were narrowed from 40 to 20. It is amazing how adversity reveals character. Almost everyone showed themselves to be true professionals, but others...well....they showed another side. Some models could not handle being cut and made up any excuse possible to cover for not making the cut. Others handled that with grace and came off looking even better than some of those that made the cut.

A 40 mile an hour Mojave wind forced the production indoors for a day and the photographers had to step up their game. Some did and some did not. Watching it all happen was an eye opener.

The next two days the wind continued, but not at the same level so back out side we went. It was not easy but so many models and photographers stepped away with some AMAZING images. It reminded me of the year Sportrs Illustrated did their swimsuit issue in Alaska. A few of the participants stepped up their game and became famous, while others buckled under the pressure.

This years Best of the Best was a lot more "Reality TV" than the previous one because so many characters put themselves on display. The good thing is that "Reality TV" also includes the positive characters. The people that really showed class and dignity under pressure, as well as grace and humility.

I am not sure if this week taught me more about just how wonderful and inspiring people are or how ungrateful and self-centered they are. Both are so true. One thing is for sure. The cameras caught all of it. The ugliness and beauty of this business all showed up big time. It was...well.....ask me in few days when I wake up.

In the mean time, here is Meredith. One of the real beauties of the event.

Rick that sounds like there might be a few good storys coming from that workshop. And that image is a real nice shot. What was used to create such a image besides the great photographer and model ?

A Hensel Porty with a beauty dish was the lighting used.

Thanks for the compliment!
