I went through the whole shoot with Jennifer from a few weeks ago and picked some different shots to work with, as seen below. The cropping is a little off for the first one. My bad, but I need to make it fit the intended space, and no one should be looking at her hands that much. The wrinkles in her neck bother me more, but so far I haven't been able to fix that without making it look totally unnatural. Again, not the first thing the intended audience should notice.

We also had a second shoot this past weekend, with a completely different look. The first three images will be her entry for this year's Maxim Home Town Hotties contest. (Is there anyone here who hasn't been asked for shots for this contest?)

Comments encouraged.

Pretty nice stuff all around.

I did notice in the last two shots that your camera seemed to grab focus on the truck rather then the model.
Not sure how or why that happened in this situation but it's something to watch out for.

the difference in exposure between the model and the truck seems a bit wide for me. I understand you were probably looking to "pop" her from the BG but I think some light -- maybe some accent lighting -- would still keep her popped but would make the BG a little more dynamic.

I just went back and looked at the full size version of these. Yes, she is slightly out of focus. Just before these shots she was kneeling on the hood of the truck. I assume I managed to take a these shots without refocusing. I am just so happy with myself.

I like that idea. Unfortunately, if it had crossed my mind at the time, I would not have had the extra gear with me to do that properly. This was not the scene that I had intended to shoot. I had planned on shooting her against 2D industrial backdrops (corrogated steel, rough concrete, etc) in a completely different outfit. When we got to the location, she spotted the truck, announced she had the an outfit to go with it and said she wanted to shoot with that instead. And thus, an afternoon of improvisation commenced.

Sometimes you have to improvise and please your model, as with the truck shots.
I really like the first two, light is very good.

Let me comment on several areas.

The shot of her against the wall has problems as you pointed out; the hand cropping and the neck wrinkles. The neck wrinkle issue might be solved by moving some of her hair over on the camera side next time. Depends a lot on the specific hairdo though. If her hairdo really tightly frames her face, it might not work. Maybe try a ponytail for that shot.

I think she could have moved back from the wall a step and leaned into it, thus also pushing her bottom out a bit. She seems too vertical.

I think her white bustier tends to merge into the white wall. I'd revise the lighting to get more separation there or have her wear a colored bustier to show off her curves.

Just my opinion.

Lovely girl...

I appreciate the input. I wish I could have figured out how to get more oblique lighting in that space to bring out the texture of what she was wearing, which was very nice.

She has a red one, but bought the white one just for this shoot. That should give you an idea of how my luck has been running lately. I have a shoot with another model coming up sometime soon. She doesn't understand why I want to go over wardrobe with her before the day of the shoot. Fortunately, I know her personally so I can insist on going through her closets with her.
