Well, relatively. I've been lurking for a bit and asked a question or two, but not particularly active.

Part of the reason is that I'm not at all sure my images would fit in here. I work mostly with the re-enactment/ren faire/goth/fetish communities and most of my subjects are from those groups. None of them even approach the type of models I see here. They are not size zero, early 20's, perfect hair and makeup types. They tend to be older, much more voluptous, tattooed, and frequently photgraphed in their more normal surroundings than in a studio. They are not, in any way, models that you would see in Playboy or similar magazines or advertising. There is, however, a large segement of the population that finds such models more appealing than the standard glamour model, and I would like to get some feedback from other photographers.

So the question is this- does glamour, as defined by the members of this board, include such subjects?

Thank you for your input.

I'm not sure we can answer that question. We just had a recent discussion of the question "What is glamour?" which is located here:

http://www.glamour1.com/forums/main-...tml#post246073

I think you'll see, if you peruse that thread, that the definition of Glamour went all over the place.

So, what you might want to do, is to post 1 or 2 examples of the type of work you do, and then ask for comments. Then you'll be able to get a feel for how people here might react to your genre.

Cheers,
rfs

Thank you, RFS. I looked at the thread and the spinoffs from it. Not encouraging, I have to say. The definitions may have been all over, but they still centered around young, "barbie" types, and played to the commercial definition. I have a shoot this weekend with some 18th century re-enactors and another one coming up soon to reproduce some portraits of 15th century courtesans phtotgraphically. I will see if I'm happy enough to post a couple and see what the response is.

FWIW, if you've only been visiting the last six months or so, you've hit during a period where the majority of posts have been more-or-less "mainstream glamour," if that makes any sense. In the not-too-distant past, there were posters who regularly contributed retro, gothic, vampire, and even the occasional "faire-ish" images. I think you'll find that the discussion will focus on the technical quality of the image more than whether the specific genre or model is as "good" as another.

Welcome aboard.
