Monte Zucker passed away this evening after a battle with pancreatic cancer.

Monte was one of the most enthusiastic instructors I have ever had the pleasure of listening and learning from.

R.I.P. Monte

Monte Zucker held a high standard and was an inspiration to a great many photographers and other folks.

Someone upstairs must have a wedding for which they need his special style.

Monte and I used to bump heads when I was doing wedding photography in MD the same time he was, but he was always a great teacher and mentor.

He'll need a storage locker up there for all of his stuff!!

What a terrible shame. I had a chance to see and talk with him in Houston last year. Been looking at his work for LOTS of years. He was a terrific teacher and photographer. My respects to his family -

Monte was a great man, great photographer, great writer and a wonderful person. I had the privilege of being involved with him in a small business venture a few years back that allowed us to interact as friends. What I loved about him, he never kept anything back if you asked a question. He always returned calls if you got his voice mail. He always "hugged" you when he saw you. The photo world lost a great man today. God Bless his friends and family, rg.

This is very sad. I never met him, but read some of his writings and saw his work obviously. Definitely a big loss...

I went to two different seminars that he put on in the late 80's and early 90's. They were all day afairs and there was so much to learn and so much enthusiasm. In 2002, 2003, and 2004, I was able to go to Vegas for the WPPI conventions. He was always there on the convention floor and always willing to chat and treated everyone like a valued friend. Like Ansel Adams, no one will ever take the place of Monte Zucker. My heart goes out to the many who worked with him, such as Clay Blackmore.

I had the privilege of attending a Monte workshop on advanced portraiture (Toronto, 1994 I think). He was a marvelous teacher, enthusiastic, knowledgeable and patient. His teachings have greatly influenced my approach to lighting and photography.

The photography world has lost one of it's 'greats'.

Never met the man but really enjoyed his articles and was very aware from the photographic community that he was very well liked and respected.

My condolences to his family and friends.

Sherwin Kahn.

Many years ago, too many to recall, when I became a professional photographer I came across the work of a fellow who had a studio in Silver Spring Maryland. I had never seen such exquisite lighting and posing. This work influenced me greatly. My style of portraits and classical wedding imaging evolved as a direct result of those pictures. I had the good fortune to attend several seminars conducted by this photographer and also receive his newsletter that ran for several years. I spoke to him by telephone several times and he never failed to take a personal interest in what I was doing and always encouraged me to put my heart and soul into my work.
If only I was a fraction as competant a photographer as this man.
The next time I pilot an aircraft, I will wig wag the wings in a salute to him.
Monty, soar with the angels, and thanks for being a friend.
