Hi.
I don't know if this is in the right forum, but I wasn't sure where else to put it.

I am thinking of buying one of those collapsible backgrounds (lastolite style - see image below).

I am thinking of a black/white reversible one rather than the mottled versions which seem to be displayed more often in advertising.

Because I work from a home studio and have to erect and dismantle the studio equipment before and after each shoot, they seem like a good idea, but I am concerned that they will get badly creased when folded and that the creases will show up in the images.

Does anyone here have experience of using these backgrounds, and if so do they show creases or not?

I will be grateful for any information you can give.

I use a couple of Westcott collapsibles for corporate location portraits when needed. One is a old world masters type and the other is a chroma-key, with the old world master still the fav amongst clients. When the background is unleased from its bag and blossoms into full size the bands seem to snap any memory out of the fabric.

I use the lastolite backgrounds on occasions, yes the mottled ones you see advertised... The spring tension removes the creases on the ones I have, but getting them back in the back is an art form in its self until you master it...

Thanks to both of you for your replies.

I was hoping that the tension in the frame would be enough to stretch out the creases, so your replies are exactly the information I was looking for.

Oh well, off to check the wallet and see how many pennies are left there!
