What about the lens were you testing? What were you trying to see, and what were the results you got?

To me the image isn't sharp and lacks contrast.

I think there was a bit of mis-focus, the sharpest area is around the right shoulder, this is where the centre point probably was... Either focus on the eyes then reframe the image or use a focus point that is on the eyes...

This Quantary lens 28mm 200mm I buy it for $25.00 dollar in this out of business store. The camera, is Nikon D50. The setup, no umbrella just 70w over head light bulb and fill flash from the camera. Backdrop was a 42" round reflector that I have at home as a back up.The Photo was taken with the quantary lens at 50mm and the exposure time was 1/3 sec at F/10.

I take 52 photos last night. It came out the same no so sharp. Right now UPS deliver me a Nikon 70mm 300mm lens that a going to usse next saturday or tonight. if I want to I use photoshop and get it sharp but I not want to depend too much from the program some minor re-touch but no more then that.

What mode was the camera set in ? M -- S --- A --- P ? Also just how did you ajust the focus ? Was it set on auto focus or manual focus ? Even that lens should do a good job. How did you come up with those settings for the exposure time ? I think your shutter is to slow.
