something doesn't sound right about his story. why would the magazine lump pros and students in the same contest and not amateurs? even if amateurs were excluded, which doesn't sound right, why would students be competing against pros?

My take is that it is for emerging professionals - that is students pursuing a Photography Curriculum at an accredited school and or those that have up to 3 years experience as professional photographers. Pros with over three years experience do not meet the contest qualifications.

I dunno, but the restrictions seem pretty clear to me. "Open to students who are currently enrolled in a photography course at an accredited college or university or to professional photographers with up to three years of professional experience."

I was going to enter in this same contest but didn't because I don't and didn't go to a photography school. I'm picking this up as I go along.

I can understand how someone who's a student could prove that fact, but how does a professional prove that a) he/she is a professional and b) that they've been such for less than 3 years? Do all professional photographers have to have a business license or something similar?

I learn something over the years, All over the world you can find soo much talent. years ago I meet a musician John Velatequi. geart musician but he got a secrethe play by hear. once he enter this contest and all hell breck lose he won the contest but when it time to read music he totaly lock up he can play any can play any type a instrument you can imagen. he whent to school to learn how to read music life cut short at the age of 20.

What I try to say is, when is contest going on much of the magazine prefer student an professional photographer than amateur. it to much talent out there specially photographer. think about it photgraphy is supose to be fun.

I do not mine the I get beat by a amateur the thing is we all have fun in this beutifull hobby or profession.

Something isn't right. The contest deadline is February 23, 2007. How could someone have won the grand prize already?
