After five shoots with this 5'8" beauty, she's quickly becoming my favorite model ... especially since she continues to give me my best work. I'm helping her build her portfolio so she can hopefully get signed by a professional modeling agency, but ... she's been told by some people that she'll probably need to cut her long hair if she wants a professional Agency to sign her.

Should Julie cut her long locks or keep'em flowing?

She should ask the agency people, not us or others.

It's easy to see why she's a favorite. Gorgeous.

How old is Julie, and exactly how tall is she in her bare feet? What type of modeling does she want to do? I like her hair (I think most guys like long hair) and I think it would be an asset particularly in glamour/commercial work. As far as any mainstream brick and block agency, if she meets their minimum age and height requirements, they will tell her directly what they want her to do with her hair when they sign her. Any action Julie would take prior to being evaluated by a real agency in a major market would be premature.

That said, she should take good care of her hair and keep the ends trimmed. Healthy natural hair is more important to anyone would would want to represent her than the actual length. Do you have any shots of her where her hair has been professionally styled?

Keep the hair but try and keep it under control...

Nice series of shots but the hair in the first two seem a little unruly...

Thanks for all the comments and information. Julie is 24 years old and 5'8" in her bare feet. Size 0-2. Her mother spent 15 years as a print model with the largest modeling agency in Dallas, so she's been encouraging Julie to go to get into modeling. Unfortunately, Julie's getting at late start in the modeling business because she spent a lot of time in Italy studying fashion design. She'd love to do print, magazine, fashion, catalog, etc ... but she definitely has a wild side and likes shooting glamour and Maxim-style images too.

I did her hair in the above pictures and wanted to create a wild look (now you see why I'm NOT a hair stylist LOL!) Our next shoot is March 12 and we will have a hair and makeup stylist. Stay tuned.

Seems to me she could keep the long hair. Even if an assignment called for a shorter look to the hair, that can be accomplished by a good hair stylist. I personally think that long hair opens up a number of great possibilities for model photography and I always find it sad when a model with long beautiful hair cuts it off.
Cheers,
rfs

Being a fan of long hair, I think she should keep it. I think besides her obviously incredible beauty, her hair is a great asset. She looks like she has everything she needs...she's very well-proportioned, appears to have lovely skin, gorgeous eyes, pouty lips.....I'm sold. I wish her the very best and hope you'll share more photos of her as well!

Good day!

Like Yogi said, "Nobody knows nuthin." That aside, what Fish said is probly on the money. I don't know much about fashion models but I do know a little about glamour and, if her hair is kept in good condition, it's probly an asset. But I could be wrong.
