After seeing the before and after on the image below, a good friend asked whether I considered myself a "photographer" or an "artist." Hummm ... I deliver images that are part photography and part digital artistry ... so I told him I was a little of both, and proud of it.

"I'm an 'Image-ographer' ... I deliver images!"

Here's an example of my work ... the photo is on the left, the image is on the right!

Nice work. I think its often more about the image rather than the photograph. Especially when one deals with customers, its the final image that they can use for their purpose that is important, and not the photograph or photographs and the PS work that went into making it. So "image-ographer" may be the new word of the future. Who knows?

Cheers,
rfs

Tummy tucks are easier than the skin treatments. They're curtesy of the Photoshop "Liquid" tool (located in the Filters menu of CS and CS2). If you haven't tried this tool, it's like turning your image into "Silly Putty" and you can stretch, push, shrink and bloat your image in real time. I think it's the most amazing tool in Photoshop.

I like this word a lot. I'm going to borrow it from time to time.

When I saw that image on MySpace today, I pretty much knew how it started out. But then again I've seen your master hand at Photoshop before. It really is artwork. Well beyond my capabilities to say the least.

My only beef with doing this is that when I want to hire one of these girls with images like this in their book, I have no idea what they will look like in person. That's why I'm requiring in person interviews for paid workshop models now. At least once I've had a model show up 20# different from her portfolio images. On the day of the event, it's pretty hard to hide that...

I will give it a try. Of course, all the models I work with are perfection (you never know who is reading this LOL)

Thanks.

After shooting hundreds of models I can absolutely tell you that -- "models rarely look like the images in their portfolio." That doesn't mean that they couldn't look like their portfolio images, but in many cases those portfolio images were a result of a professional makeup artist, great lighting, excellent photography ... and yes, probably some Photoshop retouching. And, like all of us, models change over time ... they gain weight (or lose weight), they change their hair color and style, they get acne, tattoos, piercings ... you name it! So if it's critical to you that the model you hire looks like her portfolio images, it's definitely a good idea to request a current polaroid or an in-person interview.

Robert Townsend's book, "Up the Organization," has a nice little story about the importance of knowing what business you're really in. You're in the "image" business, not the "photograph" business. I don't know if there really is a viable "photograph" business today.
Hey, nice work, btw.
