Hi all,

As I am doing a lot more published work now I'm finding myself spending a lot more time trying to organise: locations, models, shoots, clients, payments, general planning, document scans etc. In fact I spend a lot of time chasing my tail as there is so much information tied up in lots of different places - mainly e-mails, spreadsheets, word docs - all over the place. What I'm looking for is a database application which would tie all of this information together in one place. I did start a model database tied into my web Gallery implementation which tracked correspondance and model info/stats but it takes so long to input all the data this has fallen by the way-side. Does anyone know of or use a database application which looks after all this sort of info?

Thanks in advance, Paul

I use Imatch - works very well and it's inexpensive.

Hi Paul,

I'm not sure there is one database for everything you can dream up to put in one place. But, here's a link to an application that runs on on the Filemaker database (PC or MAC) which integrates a lot of the needed functions of a Pro Photographer. And the best thing is it's free - although if you like it and use it, a suggested donation of $100 would keep the developer's interest in improving the program.

I am not affiliated in any way with this program, just answering a question.

There are several database packages that might work, but they all require the one thing that most photographers don't have time for and don't like to do which is to actually enter data into these systems and link emails, and contracts and estimates. That is why one hires an accountant or assistant of some sort to do the tedious work that makes these databases work.
Cheers,
rfs

I've yet to find one I like and have begun building my own in Filemaker.
