not a wife (yet) but she is totally supportive of what i do. I do not shoot nudes that frequently but as mentioned here before, even taking pictures of a clothed woman can rattle the cage of your significant other. at first it was shakey and she wasn't 100% on board, but she understands that I respect our relationship and also understands that my love for the female body transcends purely sexual connection, its art.


Seeing that someone wanted the spouses or significant others to reply on this topic i got mine to give a quote:

Well, my wife could care less about my photography. Although I don't shoot a lot of models anymore (lost my studio and winters in Maine are not conducive to satisfactory nudes unless I'm shooting stand-ins for the Smurfs), I never shared my glamour work with my wife. She has seen a few shots I did (not even nudes...just lingerie) and she wasn't happy. Now my life and photography seems to have shifted gears once again to editorial stock but I still have this nagging feeling deep inside that wants to shoot glamour. I subscribe to "Bazaar" magazine and I just love the work in there and want to emulate that until I can find a style of my own in that genre'. Granted, "Bazaar" is more about fashion than anything else but the lighting and the sets are always what impresses me. Anyway, I'm getting off-topic. Bottom line: My wife doesn't ask; I don't tell (or didn't tell as the case may be). She knew I was working with models but that was the extent of it.

That's my .02 cents (before Dubya takes it away for the war in Eyerack).

Well, she feels pretty good about it , since 95% of the time, she's my model! Like any good model, I don't have to deal with an agency, she is available, reliable, and always on time, does her own hair and make-up, is enthusiastic, knows her best features and shooting angles, brings her own wardrobe, and she doesn't overcharge me! It's usually not TFP or TFCD but TFRD (Time For Romantic Dinner) or TFFDF (Time For Fixing Dripping Faucet) or TFFRT (Time For Fixing Running Toilet) or TFRFFTHOASIOSADB) (Time For Rearranging Furniture For Three Hours On A Saturday Instead Of Sailing And Drinking Beer). The remaining 5% of the time it's one of her friends who wants us to take some photos for herself, her husband, or her boyfriend - she's a great assistant, too.

I was shooting nudes before I met my partner, and made it clear that I would continue to do so. She made it clear that if I touched any models, she'd break something important of mine...and I don't think she was talking about photo equipment!
As it happened, I've taken the better part of the last 10 years off from shooting, but am slowly working my way back. I'm looking forward to it...and she reminds me that the "rules" still apply!
She's smarter than me, taller than me, better looking than me, and much to my delight, has lousy taste in men! (How else would she have wound up with me?!?)

(Man, I love this "partner" stuff...sounds totally gay and confuses the hell out of people! But when you've been with a woman for 12 years, but aren't married, "girlfriend" sounds...lame!)

It was her idea that I start shooting glamour and nudes. I guess she got tired of seeing car wreck, bird, and flower images. The fact that she is a glamour model herself doesn't hurt. As long as I conduct myself in a professional manner, she has no problems with nudes. And vice versa.
