Set up my first "real" shoot, directing and all last night. I've been doing little practice setups with my girlfriend to get the hang of lighting and all, she usually does what she wants and I just try to keep up, so I've been wanting to try directing. So last night I decided I'd get a few dark moody and interesting images with a friend of ours. Here's what we got. They had to be shot at high ISO so they may be a tad noisy. C&C appreciated.

Hm... I don't like toilets in glamour pictures.

But wait ... #5 ! A bit more light on her face and then , maybe ...

Of them all I prefer the 4th. one with the model sitting on the toilet seat, feet up and head down...has the greatest impact. Of course it's not Glam but would work as an Art shot.

You need to work on your cropping / composition.

The 4th is my fav of the set.

I guess you didn't read my New Year's resolutions post... especially the resolution about not shooting a model within 2 feet of a toilet.

I'm happy to say I'm finding it very easy to keep.

The image value of a commode wore out a long time ago. There are so many other places you could have shot her and really made something of the shoot. As it is, the images of a lovely girl are in the toilet...

Just my opinion, don't get upset... get better.

This is an interesting concept. You'll get a lot of comments regarding the setting of the image. It definitely adds mood to the image, which I assume is what you were going for. Either that or it was a fetish shoot. The big question is, did you get what you were going for?

dereckcurry, Yes the setting was intended to bring mood to the images and I believe I did get what I was after. Especially in the 4th shot. They weren't intended to be glamour, I was trying something a little moody and artistic.

Number three could have been real interesting had the lid been up, and an empty beer bottle on the back of the commode.

I like B&W images. #3 & #4 captured the mood you were after it appears to me. In the end if you like them then you acheived your goal.

Exactly what DHDSP already said, Im not a fan of the "sexy girl on a toliet" shots, but I do like the last one, give her a little more light and you've got a great photo.

It looks like you've got a great start though, just get that girl away from the toilet.
