I was looking a paper today and noticed that 8.5x11 was more abundant then 8x10. Was wondering what others offered their customers.

Whatever they want is the easy answer. I just buy the 8.5 x 11 paper and print up to that size. If they want 8x10 then I deliver it printed on the 8.5x11 sheet and let them cut it. Same for all sizes smaller than 8.5x11 (although I gang if possible). I also buy larger sheets such as 11x14 or 19x13 and print to full border less or gang on those sheets.
Cheers,
rfs

My printer will handle 13x19, so that's the only size I buy. On that I can print a 12x18 or 2 8x12 images. If I do an 8x10, I save the extra strip for making small test prints.

I've actually found it cheeper and the print quality much higher if I take a cd into my local pro lab and have it printed there on normal photographic paper, so I go either 8x10 or 8x12 depending on how it's framed.

That's probably a good option these days. I started printing at home before there was a good and inexpensive option available. I've got a quadtone b&w system set up and print on high quality papers, like Hahnemühle.

yeah, that's what I've been doing for any sort of serious work, for clients and any portfolio work. Plus since at least the lab that I use uses actual traditional photo paper, it's got some archival quality as well.

Any of you printing larger than 8X10's ever shopped for picture frames in your local department stores?
Seems like the standards are 5x7, 8x10 and 11x14's. Anything different and you'll spend 3-4 times as much for custom mats and frames.
