And any body else that may have an angle on this question.
I grew up in the era of liberation for women, ban the bra, no bra, burn the bra, ect as did you guys. Guess I was a sleep for those 20 + years I was riding around in Uncle Sam's yacht's. This past summer I photographed over a dozen young ladies in their 20's. I came across a curious problem with many of the girls wearing 2 or more bra's at the same time. Ok maybe a new style, but to me so many straps on otherwise beautiful soft shoulders was very distracting. I would ps the extra straps out so only the top garmentstrap would show. This gets to be teadious at best. Some of the girls got a bit irritated when I asked the to adjust their staps so they didn't show or just remove the extra garment that showed underneath......bad , bad ideal. hmnp
What changed that makes young ladies protect whats in the bra to the point it would make Ft Knox envious?
Or?? Is all those extra straps in a photo a good thing these days???
If not how would you guys approach it?

I've not seen this phenomenon before so maybe its something new or something that just non-pro models are doing. I can only assume it has something to do with making their bust lines look larger.

When I hire a model, since I'm paying the bills, I expect her to wear what ever I choose within the framework of the types of modeling she has agreed to. If the model were to show up with two bras, I'd just take a few shots and then just tell her that the 2nd bra is not working well for the photos and ask her to remove it. She would then remove it. After all, the model wants good photographs also.

Also it is a well known fact that two bras do not work well for nude modeling.

Cheers,
rfs

Thanks!
Non of these girls were hired, so that makes it tough. I do tell them about making better poses, for better photographs. Some agree and want to work towards better photo's. I don't do a lot of nude photography, but when I do I generally tell them to be disrobed at least 1/2 hour before we start shooting so that the impressions left by underclothing has disapated. If under garments are wanted in the scene they can put something back on for those shots.
The largest hurdel I still have to overcome is lighting in my tiny little studio. But I think some of my later shots reflects less shadowing where it's not wanted.

OH! One girl came to me with 2 bra's, 2 camisoles, and a tank top on.

Whenever two people shoot together, both have to bring something of value to the table, and both need to get suitable results from the shoot, be it paid or not. It all starts with planning.

That being said, never start a shoot without a planning session, and be specific, so you both are on the same page.

Nothing's changed in terms of the sanctity of chest puppies. It's probably just another so-called fashion trend, possibly started when some young celebrity/singer/actress/model went out in public while seriously hung-over from partying the night before and forgetting she was already wearing a bra when she donned the second one. the two-bra "look" then got a lot of paparrazi attention which caused her publicist to pass the whole thing off as some kind of fashion statement.

Now that's just downright bizarre. I can honestly say that I've never seen or heard of anything like that. I'm afraid that if I found a model wearing two bras I wouold be unable t o shoot at all, I would be too busy hysterically laughing.

I can tell you why no girl is without a bra these days, it's simple really, wonder bras. Society has completely sanctioned the stuffed, er padded, bra. I hate them, for the full tirade check my blog:

Why 2 bras? Why make doublestuffed oreos?

Doug, ya should have been in my shoes the first time I came across it. I was puzzeled at first, then I thought she may have just been dressed that way in case she wanted to change her look. So I didn't say anything to her. The straps didn't align so I had to ps the extra strings out. A pain! the second time I ran across a girl dressed that way I asked her to remove the distracting straps or ensure they were tucked in. Still had to do some ps ing to clean them up. I came across several more this summer. I don't want to come across creepy but the way some girls dress just freaks me a bit.
Some seem overly concerned that they HAVE to get naked. Well I don't shoot that many nudes. If they don't want to shoot nude or semi nude I don't push for what they arn't comfortable with. I don't like shooting trashy or goofy or ridiculous.
Sometimes I think shooting flowers is better than shooting insecurity.
