Ok, I'll start this and let's see how many folks we can wake up over the holidays. The rule is simple, you post the answer to the last question--no branching off threads here--stay in order! However, at the end of the answer you must have a question for the next person--please keep them photo/model related.

As an example, "What was your first camera?" Answer with question, "My first camera was a Nikon, what was your first lens? Answer with questions, "My first lens was an 85mm, if that was what you were asking? Answer with questions, "Nope, I was asking what brand of lens was your first? etc., etc., etc...

Ok, first question is mine, then let's get this going--

Did you ever shoot black and white film? Now someone take it from there and so on! Thanks, and Happy Holidays, rg sends!

My first camera came with two rolls of Tri X Pan, it's what I learned on.

What was your first zoom lens ?

Never shot any film. Why use film these days anyway?

I still shoot film because I'm still not able to reproduce the full effects of Velvia or the full tonal raanges of B&W in dgital (maybe others can, but I'm not there yet).

The name LEICA is a composite of what two things?

Because no one has come up with a digital back for my Holgas.

Other than clueless parents, who still tells people to say "cheese" when taking a picture?

I still use it with the few shots I have done outside of family. Mostly I am shooting with younger people as I learn. My daughter and her friends mainly at 13 they love having their pictures taken and will put up with my trying different things as I learn what works and what doesn't.
What was your first photography book purchase.

When using a light meter, how does metering differ for digital and film?

I haven't found any difference. You are still measuring the same things as before. The meter will tell you the fstop and the shutter speed. How you use the results may vary somewhat. For example, I've found that shooting digital is close to shooting slide film in that you need to have your exposure as close to right on as you can get them. There is not as much slop factor as with film. However, if you shoot in RAW, you can almost approach the slop factor that film gave you.

Can you meter a shot just as well using a Gray card or a Black, Gray and white calibration target using the camera's histogram?

The metering may not be as precise using the target+histogram, but it's plenty good enough to get the shot. There are enough errors with metering anyway.

The target uses the same sprung steel wire as reflectors. Ever had an accident when unfolding a reflector?
