Southern Hack Photographer Done Good.
it's crazy man...
A friend of mine "G", or Genevieve Bartel, sent me an email about this back in May '06.
So I submitted three images to this event that was called "The World's Greatest Erotic Art Competition"
The competition was open to anyone (professional or amateur). I knew that they were going to publish a coffee table book with 200 of the best images and I was hoping that my odds may be good enough to at least get considered for the book. I mean this contest is titled "The World's Greatest"...as in..."The World."
I would just be happy to hope that the jurors notice my submission.
-Fast-forward to today-
So I get a long distance call from the gallery director, Fritz, and the contest went down like this;
Works from 450 artists and over 1000+ images were juried by (12) art critics, gallery curators, multimedia artists, and erotic authors and collectors from all over the globe.
There were (4) category winners:
* Fine Art
* Digital Art
Then the "People's Choice Award" (voted on by gallery members)
And finally the "Master of Erotic Art" award. (Best of the Best in Show)
Guess which category I won...
(Erotic art website...may not be suitable for some)
Now it is off to Vegas for the awards presentation and my prize money. And the traveling art show will be coming to a city near you in the US, Europe, and Asia.
And look for the coffee table book to be out in early spring '07
thanks to everyone whose paths I crossed in my fast learning of the art of photography and for putting up with all my stupid novice questions from "How to read a light meter" to "Photoshop layer masking techniques."
There are really too many to list (and many of you will be reading this...so you know who you are) but the ones that I want to give special thanks to are:
dK - for his wise and ever amazing knowledge of photography.
JT Smith - for his belief in me to allowing my freestyle mentor run at his supershoot workshops.
Bill Reichhart (Tsubasa) - For his photoshop guruness.
Rolando - for not kicking me off his forum when I push the envelope.
Paul Hamer - For keeping SouthernModelShoots.com alive and giving me the confidence to post some of my very first images for critique.
Rich Drinkard, Mark Anderson, Ed Selby, Stu Haluski - for their encourgement to push me to "just do what you do" and not conform.
Chelsie Hamann - my beautiful model muse.
This is by far my high water mark in the art world so far. Now onwards and upwards.
So Happy Birthday to me, Happy Holidays to your and yours. What a way to end an awsome year of photogrpahy.
Oh, and I'm buying also.
