I have noticed that my website was being referred to from this web page. MSN image search How my photos got on this page I have no idea, I just found it interesting that there are a couple on this list. Just wondering how they may have gotten on there.

Welcome to the wonderful world of search engines. They load the page in a frame which gives them legal ability to do that. Since they are serving a snapshot of the image and the full image view actually loads your page, they don't get in trouble.

If it's showing your website (not G1) and you would like to have your page bust out of their frames, here's some code for you:
<!-- Bust out of frames -->
<script>
<!--

if (window!= top)
top.location.href=location.href
// -->
</script>
<!--End Bust out of Frames -->
Just place this in the header of your HTML document and it will open your page in the current browser in full size, not in a frame.

Mike

There are pros and cons to using this script, however. If people are trying to find images for what ever reason, once they click the thumb in the search engine to go to your image, the code does indeed pop you out of their frame. But it also means when they press the back button to go back to the index of images from the search engine, that they don't make it, but instead are returned to your page. This is very disturbing to some people, especially those with disabilities.

Note: Naturally you can use the .htaccess file (among other options) to make your images invisible to the search engine spider by placing instructions there for the search engine spiders. But this won't work for images posted on G1 since its to G1's advantage to have the images spidered. However, I'm seeing a situation where the G1 images don't seem to be showing up in the Google Search engine, so perhaps G1 has placed a nofollow into effect.

Cheers,
rfs

Not so. That script doesn't force a page reload.

I just tested it again and it does defeat the Back button just as I said. Here are the steps in the test:

1. Find images in Google.
2. Click on an image on the target website.
3. The Google frame loads with thumbnail at top frame and the webpage in the lower frame.
4. The script pulls the webpage out of the lowerframe and it we now see the full web page.
5. Press Back button.
6. It takes you back to the frame page, but only for a split second since the script then retriggers and takes you back to the full web page.

As a result you can't easily use the back button to get back to the Google search results.

Cheers,
rfs

It's not doing it from me in IE or FF on a Windows XP machine running SP2.
