I had an itch to shoot last night, so I called my friend Jayme Lynn, owner of Hot Bod Production. She had some free time, so an hour later I was shooting her at a nearby lake. All these shots were taken using only my D100 and on-camera SB-80DX flash.. All the images are straight out of the camera with only minimal Photoshop to clean up her blemishes and adjust the contrast and sharpness. AND ... the shot of Jayme in the water is exactly how the image came out of my camera. Somehow this muddy green Texas lake looks blue with the sunset at my back.

Very nice work, Marty. I particularly like the second image - the wonderful golden color of her hair and the glow of her tanned skin compliment one another beautifully.

Thanks for sharing.

Hey Photomart,

Great images, love the light and color on her skin. These images are what I desire to achieve with my equipment. I have the same set up as you and the Kodak 14n. Could you tell me what your settings were on the SB-80DX and D-100. I can never seem to get my images to look like yours or anyone elses on this site through just my capture settings. I wish to learn more and I figured since you have the same set up you could tell me your path to greatness. I had posted a post about my attempts just a day or so ago if you wanted to see an image I missed on. I do not like to place my images on others threads because, I feel it is tacky. Your image=Your thread; unless you post to show a result of a tip you gave.
Thanks,
Take care and be safe
God be with you,
Tony

Thanks for the compliments. For the shot of Jayme kneeling in the water, here is the camera setting information. Good luck with your shoots.

Nikon D100
Nikkor VR 70-200 f2.8 G with polarizing filter
Image was shot at a focal length of 105mm
Exposure Mode: Manual 1/160 sec at f3.2
ISO 200 - Exposure comp: +0.3
White Balance: Cloudy +1
Color Mode: SRGB
Tone Comp: Auto
Time of day: 7pm - 15 minutes before actual sunset
Type of day: Clear with almost no clouds (unfortunately)
Position: Model facing sun, camera about 12 feet from model with my back to sun

On the shots where I used my SB-80DX for fill flash, I set the flash on manual at 1/1 (full power) then walk toward the model (or backward) until the fill light looks correct (I don't shoot with a meter).

Here's an example of shooting with the sunset behind the model and the on-camera flash illuminating the model -- using the same settings as listed above, but with a Cloudy-3 white balance..

Nicely done. I especially like the first and third images. Great lighting in the third image. Now why did I buy all of that fancy lighting gear?
