I've been helping out a friend's daughter w/her photography. It's been a long distance type of thing, as they are located in another state. I've never actually met her, but I've donated film, books, magazines, given advice, etc. to help her along. She has the eye for it, which to me is something that can't be taught.

Her Mom is getting ready to help her apply to colleges and has asked me for suggestions. Not having kids myself, I'm at a loss as to what colleges have good photography and art type programs.

If anyone out there has some suggestions I could pass along, I would be most grateful. She looking at 4 year degree programs, as opposed to a certificate or AA.

I'm familiar with Brooks.

Thank you.

I'm in Burbank! Could Art Center be any closer? Not sure why I never think of Art Center, I'll forward that to her Mom ASAP.

Thanks.

Brooks is also highly thought of, and its out in your area also. There was a recent long thread on it here at G1.
Cheers,

Before recommending a school, it'd be good to have an idea of what KIND of photography the young lady is interested in. After all, if she's looking to become a fashion photog she'll definitely want a different school than if she was going into biomedical illustration/photography.

Art institues have their place in society, but if she wants to make any money, maybe she could consider a major in psychology and a minor in business?

Hey dude, how many Mike Colon's are there in the world?

The point I was trying to make is that if you want to make a living you need to be a business person first and an artist second.

Disect the phrase pro photographer. The first three letters are PRO!

The Savannah College of Art and Design is top notch, also top dollar. It is in Savannah, GA.
