I love to shoot fashion and glamour on location with available light.
Is any one else not into electronic artificial light.
I use reflectors and diffussers for most if not all of my location work.

Hey Bruce,
Great shot!! Now the question is..can you tell us about the set up. How did you get enough light on the model to make the background so stunning? I am thinking about purchasing some scrims to shoot outside to diffuse the light but two questions bother me...1..what about shadows from the scrim? Two..how do you bounce enough light back on the model to keep the background in balance? Any help would be great. This shot was also taken with all natural light..no reflectors and no fill except for what the sand provided.

Hi Michael

This shot was taken during the early morning c 8am in direct sunlight it was slightly hazy which was lovely light. I shot with a 17 to 55 mm zoom with a circular polarizer, which helps the models tan, the blue sky and the sea

I use 6ft x 3ft and 6fy x 6ft 1 and 1.5 stop scrim when I am using diffussers

I like both. I'm beginning to really get into the surreal look of using studio lighting outside, but yes, I still use just reflectors. I did a shoot recently that I'm still editing down, but I will post shots from it soon.

In the mean time, this one was done with available late day sun hitting the model and a CS reflector adding some rim/hair light.

Did you shoot at the wide end of the lens? Either the model is rail thin, or there seems to be a little lens distortion (especially in the arm on the left). Also I noted quite a bit of light fall off at the top of the photo and particularly on the right.
