Old is these 2 images.. First is Isadora Edison, second is Graciela (Alisha from the first workshop I attended) (Rolando's workshop in Coatesville, PA)
The new is the bw conversion software.. I bought Alien Skin's exposure.. Coming from a film background, I find some of the filters amazing, but I'm still tweaking to set my preferences.

Very nice. I like them both.

I've played with the Alien Skin product and it does a great job and lets you play around with all the old style films, development style, etc.

I also use the NIK Efec Color filters for B/W conversions with good results. I like the poses you chosen. They seem to work well in b/w.

Here is one of my attempts using the Alien Skin product. This one is a nude figure study of Liz Ashley, so posting a link to it only:

kevin, I recently photographed this great gal, Kyrie. She is from Harrisburg. Send me an e-mail and I'll tell ya how to hook up. Think her portfolio could use some more photo's.
So whats with these two programs you guys are talking about? I have a b&w fetish, all my b&w equipment burned or melted in my house fire back in February.

Keep in mind that the two sets are quite different. Nik efex have 75 different filters each with its own interface (b/w conversion is only a few of them). I've been using them for many years and wouldn't know what to do without them. If you're just going for pure ability to imitate various film stocks of the past and present in both b/w and color, then the AS would be better. You can download demo versions of each. That way you can see exactly how they work. You'll probably end up with both if you demo them.

Cheers,
rfs

If you're in to B/W, then definitely check out the demo for Alien Skin Exposure. Essentially with the product you can simulate many existing and past Black and White film types (by brand name) and the same for color. So, want to see what you photo would look like shot on TriX, then dial it in, choose how you want to develope it (push or pull, etc). It has a neat interface, and is easy to use. Here is a link where you can read about it and download a demo:

http://www.alienskin.com/exposure/index.html

If you want 75 powerful filters that do all sorts of things including a number for Black and White effects and conversions, then check out NIK Color Efex. Here is the link for info and a demo:

Cheers,
rfs
