Both images were shot with existing lights in a parking garage
after 9:00 pm using two different lenses. The first was shot
at f/5.6 - 28mm to 200mm lens.
The second was shot using a f/1.8 - 50mm lens.

On the second shot, what were you focusing on? With 1.4 looks you've got a very narrow DOF, so what you pick has to be particular. It looks to me like her hair is in focus, and not her eyes.

I was listing to an interview with a photog that shoots large format wide open and he said he focuses on the lower eyelid of the nearest eye. Doesn't us AF either.

I've been thinking about this a lot lately so I see it when I look at a photo.

Since I guess that was a critque, here's the required image.

I found focusing to be a challenge on both images, since I was standing on
the steps above her and had to put the camera on a tripod with the legs
closed together like a monopod and keep my balance at the same time.
Then add longer shutter speeds to that from the dim lights. I was proabably
lucky to get her hair in focus.

Definately a challenging shot with existing light, I like the second best.
Nice work.

These are great shots, nice job. Cute model but she looks 14...but that's probably because I'm older than dirt and they all look young. I like them both but keep getting drawn to #1 because of the action in the background. Good eye to see this composition.

Cheers,
LSC

Don't mean to detour this thread but that is an awesome makeup job and shot Ron. Mind sharing who the MUA was and, if you know, what is this eyelash technique called?

Cheers,
LSC

She is a rather young looking 19 year old, but I got the proof and
the proud mother to help us out, and perhaps be the part time
body guard.
Thanks.

The second image is really nice. It looks like the shutter was drug a bit. (blurry subject.) Good shot though. Post more!
